Obviously the council's greatest concern is with the supervision of the schools in exile, their day to day activities, their successes and problems. But as anyone who is involved with the school system will know, there are many elements that go to make up the whole meaning of the word education and not all these are academic. Such related subjects as the teaching materials, practice of the arts and culture of the society, and vocational training have their rightful place in the educational system, and in all of these we take a keen interest. The work that has been done in these fields in the last twenty years is discussed in this chapter.
