NEPAL

There are 12 small day schools and a hostel in Nepal. These were started with the help of the Norwegian Refugee Council, Swiss Red Cross and Nepalese Red Cross, All these schools have now been brought into line with the Nepalese education system, under the Nepal Government's five year plan from 1971-1976. The Nepalese education policy again changed in 1982 which is a little more flexible and hence the Council for Tibetan Education has been working to streamline the administration and upgrade the standard of these schools. This would also enable these schools to give more emphasis in the teaching of Tibetan and English which has been almost nil in the past. The progress is however, is slow as adequate fund has to be found to provide more and better teachers, apart from bureaucratic problems.
