THE TIBETAN CHILDREN'S VILLAGE , DHARAMSALA
This institution was started as a nursery-cum-transit camp for Tibetan Children in 1960. Like the other Tibetan institution it gradually grew with assistance from various voluntary agencies and government of India. Moreover with extensive assistance from S.O.S. International, it has now expanded into a children's village of 29 homes for the more unfortunate children. Apart from running a branch S.O.S. Village in Bylakuppe, it runs a boarding school of +2 level in Dharamsala, mainly for the more underprivileged children they look after and a middle school in leh, ladakh. They also run a small residential school at Patlikhul in the Kullu Valley and opened a new boarding school in lower Dharamsala to accommodate up to 500 children right up to the +2 level gradually. This school, however, is run on a pattern of paying boarder to meet the necessary fund for running the school.
