THE MUSSOORIE SCHOOLS
Started with only 50 children in march, 1960, the Mussoorie schools was the first of its kind. It is located in happy Valley adjacent to the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration. Initially the school was housed in Kildare, but over the years a number of buildings have been leased and purchased in the immediate vicinity of the school.
Under the inspiring guidance of the first principal , Mr. Jigme Taring, the new school grew in strength and by 1984 it had a total of 993 boarders and day -scholars. The teaching staff also increased correspondingly and by end of 1984 the school has 37 teachers. The 553 boarders are accommodated in three buildings, two for boys and one for girls. The majority of day-scholar are the children of the Tibetan Homes Foundation of Mussoorie. Over the years the students have carved a playing field out of the mountainside, and the school's foot ball and hockey teams have fared well in the Mussoorie Inter-School tournaments. Academically the school produces good result in the board examinations. Till 1971 all those who appeared for the board examinations were successful. However, since then there has been a decline and the average results hover around 75%.
