THE FUTURE
Tibetan Education in exile continues to develop with the passing of the years, Effort must be made to provide educational and welfare facilities for every Tibetan child of school going age, estimated to be nearly 27000 at the end of 1984. This number continues to increase and it is a challenge that we must face in the future . The educational infrastructure that we have at present is not adequate to meet our growing needs, and we know that a number of new schools and training institutes must be started. Appropriate arrangements must also be made to provide our children with an integrated education. Emphasis must be placed on the study of the Tibetan language and culture in order to preserve our national identity. Moreover the need to provide higher and specialized education will increase each year. These areas will need careful planning, keeping in view our present and future needs.
More than ever, assistance is needed to meet and overcome our every increasing financial liabilities. Though fully aware of the problems facing us, our hopes for Tibetan Education in exile, which has developed and taken a deep and healthy root in the last 25 years, remain undiminished.
